DC-cholesterol liposomes are a type of lipid nanoparticle that have shown promise for DNA/RNA delivery. These liposomes are composed of a mixture of cationic and neutral lipids, including 1,2-dioleoyl-3-trimethylammonium-propane (DOTAP), cholesterol, and other components. The cationic lipids in the liposomes interact with the negatively charged DNA or RNA molecules, forming liposome-DNA/RNA complexes that can enter cells and deliver the genetic material. DC-cholesterol liposomes have several advantages for DNA/RNA delivery.
