Microemulsion drug delivery system is a mixture of drug, oil phase, water phase, surfactant and co-surfactant mixed in appropriate proportion, which can form a thermodynamically stable system in vitro. It has good solubility for water-soluble, fat-soluble and insoluble drugs and high physical stability. It's easy to pass through the hydration layer of the gastrointestinal wall due to the low surface tension and the drug can be directly contacted with the gastrointestinal epithelial cells, which promotes the absorption of the drug and improves the bioavailability. Microemulsion has become an important dosage form in formulation research.
