Description	Interleukin-18 (IL-18), also known as interferon-gamma inducing factor (IGIF), encoded by the IL18 gene, is a proinflammatory cytokine, belonging to the IL-1 superfamily. IL18 is produced mainly by macrophages but also other cell types, stimulates various cell types and has pleiotropic functions. In combination with IL12, IL18 acts on CD4, CD8 T cells and NK cells to induce IFNγ production and type II interferon that plays an important role in activating the macrophages or other cells. This combination of IL-18 and IL-12 inhibit IL-4 dependent IgE and IgG1 production and enhance IgG2a production in B cells. IL-18 can modulate both innate and adaptive immunity and its dysregulation can cause autoimmune or inflammatory diseases. This product is designed as a tool for the delivery and expression of human IL-18 mRNA for research. The product leverages the lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology platform for simple and efficient delivery of hIL-18 mRNA to a variety of mammalian cells in vitro and in vivo. The LNPs used are formulated with SM-102, DSPC, cholesterol and DMG-PEG2000 at an optimal molar concentration for a high rate of encapsulation and efficient mRNA delivery. The IL-18 protein is about 21 kD and consists of 193 amino acids

Technical Notes	Work with mRNA-LNP on ice. It is important to minimize the time that the product spends at room temperature; after handling product during experiments, return immediately to ice.Upon receiving product, briefly pulse spin before opening to ensure product is at bottom of container; it is important not to spin for too long as this may rupture mRNA-LNP’s. Do not vortex. mRNA-LNP products should only be handled with certified RNAase-free reagents and consumables; use of filtered pipette tips is highly recommended
