Common Use | Stearic acid is an 18 carbon saturated fatty acid lipid with excellent hydrophobicity. PEGylated stearic acid is an excellent amphilphilic polymer with both hydrophilicity and hydrophobility. PEGylated stearyl (stearic acid-MPEG) is an amphiphilic, PEG surfactant and can be used to form micelles, drug delivery systems to enhance drug solubility and improve drug formulation and bioavailability. PEG is attached to the C18 alkyl ( octadecanoic acid) through an amide bond. |
