DODAP Liposomes for DNA/RNA Delivery

DODAP (Dioctadecyldimethylammonium bromide) liposome is a cationic liposome commonly used for DNA/RNA delivery. Studies have shown that DODAP has a positively charged head group that can interact with the negatively charged phosphate backbone of DNA/RNA molecules, resulting in complex formation. In addition, DODAP has a high phase transition temperature, which enables it to form stable liposomes at physiological temperatures. Liposomes composed of DODAP are biodegradable and biocompatible, making them suitable for in vivo use.
